Relax, unwind and recharge on Grand Traverse Bay at Blue Calm
A sense of calm and peace settles in at first glimpse of Lake Michigan’s turquoise waters and Blue Calm delivers! Down the winding wooded drive, the cabin awaits. Beyond, faint sounds of gentle waves caressing the shore can be heard. Stunning sunrise displays of every color in the rainbow greet the dawn. Tranquil waters call for carefree beach days, kayaking or paddle boarding (one of each available), perhaps towards Northport’s renowned Gull Island. Curl up on a beach hammock for a relaxing nap or escape to the front deck to read in sunny solitude. Enjoy a picnic, savoring meals made on the gas grill. Unwind with a newfound local wine or brew under the covered lakeside deck. After a full day, gaze up to nighttime skies to see the stars as never before while roasting marshmallows on a private beach campfire. Finally, be lulled into a restful slumber to recharge to the subtle chirp of crickets and light waves. And repeat.
Blue Calm welcomes up to 7 guests at the non-smoking property. All 3 bedrooms and first floor bath with tub/shower have been remodeled in 2019. The master bedroom featuring a king sized bed, laundry room and kitchen round out the first floor with the crown jewel being the Great Room, where turquoise waters beckon through the massive sliding glass door. The second floor houses two bedrooms: the queen room sits lakefront while the bunk room (with full over full bed plus a twin trundle) also features lake views. Upstairs bedrooms share a 2020 renovated 3/4 bath with sitting loft. A TV is provided in the Great Room for local channel viewing. Guests are invited to unplug and explore Up North as internet speeds of 8mbps is often not suited for streaming on multiple devices or warm stormy days. The indoor wood burning stove is unavailable for guest usage.
The log cabin is central to Northern Michigan’s abundance of wineries, restaurants, hiking/biking/running trails, boating, casino’s and more! Blue Calm is situated within a 10 minute drive of downtown Northport & Suttons Bay and about 45 minutes of Traverse City & the Nationally acclaimed Sleeping Bear Dunes. Welcome to Blue Calm!

We have been coming to Leelanau for several years, and this place was our favorite that we have stayed at over the years by far. The property is a great blend of rustic and updates, and its location on the water nestled in between downtown Suttons Bay and Northport, is nothing short of incredible.

This cabin was perfect for our stay! We enjoyed being able to have the views of the bay and enjoy bonfires. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t really in our favor but that didn’t stop us from having a good time. We were even able to get Netflix for the rainy afternoons. Only 20 min from Sutton’s Bay which is where we spent the majority of our time. We will definitely be back!

You will not disappointed if your goal is peace and quiet. If you like being right on the water and somewhat away from Northport, this is a great place. Our weather did not allow us to enjoy all the various activities available being right on Grand Traverse Bay. It was late fall so cannot speak to being there in the summer.

This space is the perfect place for a quiet fall get away. The home interior was clean and disinfected prior to arrival. For a summer escape it is nice and shady to keep you cool. Right on the Grand Traverse Bay with beautiful view of the sunrises. The outside is rustic with a camping feeling. So, camping only with a nice house. We will come back next year for sure! Beware the camping atmosphere includes poison ivy and dirty sand yard. We brought our two medium sized dogs and they loved it too.

This place was absolutely gorgeous. The house was clean and on a quiet, secluded road. the water pristine and warm, and the paddle board and kayak there were welcome surprises! We hope to stay again! The only tough part was low Internet speed as one of us was trying to work remotely. Overall such a fabulous stay!!

My family enjoyed our week at the Blue Calm cabin, especially the sunrise views from bed, the free use of the SUP and kayak, and the peacefulness of being away from it all! Cabin was nicely furnished with updated bathrooms and well stocked in the kitchen. We found lots of great hikes and cute little towns in a 30-min driving radius and were grateful for the local recommendations of the hosts (in the binder they left). The region was a bit buggy in July, so do bring some bug spray for hanging out in the yard or going on hikes.

We had kids from 9-11, teenagers and a few adults. EVERYONE LOVED Blue Calm. The house is even better than the pictures represent so you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get there-we were expecting it to be more rustic. The bathrooms are bright and beautifully designed. The entire house was immaculately clean when we arrived. Close to Northport for groceries/gas etc., easy access to main roads. The view of the sunrise each morning from my bed was unreal. This is a perfect hideaway spot up north. A few antique items mixed in to make it interesting. Beds in the adults rooms at least were very comfortable which also doesn't happen very often in a rental. After 10 years on Lake Leelanau, we tried something new and we'll definitely be back next year!
