Summary: Dream stay in downtown Traverse City! The Gingerbread House – What Makes It So Special? Some of the favorite things at the Gingerbread House: The Patio and Pergola: taking morning coffee and breakfast on the private patio under the shade of grape vines over the pergola stepping into the back yard to pick fresh arugula from the raised bed garden and clipping the herbs for the dinner cooked outside on the wood-burning chiminea (outside fireplace) after a long day, stretching out in the outdoor theater chairs and watching a movie on the outdoor screen with a fire in the chiminea warming the cool air and providing a wonderful, ‘up north’ ambience. Bring your projector. More Special Things About the Gingerbread House: Playing board games on rainy days while puzzles are being completed on the second table Cooking dinner outside over a wood-burning stove while enjoying the quiet neighborhood Picking out a good book from the shelf or from the two local bookstores and relaxing to the sounds of the bubbling pond off the patio in one of the recliners or a hammock Movie Theater setup (4 movie recliner outdoor chairs and tables, electrical outlets, pull-down large movie screen, large firewood-burning chiminea, private, grapevine covered fenced-in pergola) Private nook for breakfast Outdoor fireplace for fires and cooking Working on the patio with 6 electrical outlets, internet, shade and privacy Recreation gear: bikes and beach chairs Raised bed vegetable and herb gardens Being greeted by a new color display of perennial flowers every week The easy charm of a fun-loving renovated 1910 cottage with its characteristic black and white historic staircase Open-style floor plan on first floor - great for entertaining with some separation Hickory Hills, West Bay, Tart Trail, The Commons, Downtown, Local Slabtown Neighborhood: Location, convenient downtown neighborhood Taking a daily walk through the trails and fields of Hickory Hills/Meadows, enjoying a quiet and scenic getaway in the middle of the day Taking a dip in the Bay at the end of the street on a hot day Watching the 4th of July fireworks and the US Navy Blue Angels/US Air Force Thunderbirds with the neighborhood on camp chairs on the beach at the end of the street (or in the backyard!) Taking a walk and picking up fresh eggs from our neighborhood farm stand Riding bikes down the Tart Trail for dinner and refreshments at Farm Club overlooking the gardens or through Hickory Hills in the pine forest trail and down into the Meadows Riding bikes to the Saturday morning Sara Hardy Farmers Market---getting to the 9 Bean Rows’ tent early enough to get a fresh spinach and feta croissant Walking to downtown Traverse City on a Saturday night to have a great dinner and an evening stroll back home by the water Walking distance to little beach at the end of Elmwood Ave, The Commons, Hickory Hills, Downtown Traverse City, Tart Trail Run shoreline or bike though the woods Many “foodie” options within walking distance Commons at Grand Traverse within walking or biking distance – going for a hike and then having some craft beer, local wine tasting or incredible coffee Great options for live music, movies, and shopping, all within walking distance in downtown TC The refreshing chocolate shakes at Dairy Lodge right around the corner The peace that comes with never having to get into a car once home for the day 25 minutes to the beaches and hikes of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shoreline Farm stands everywhere!!! The best part about the Gingerbread House is enjoying it with your furry four-legged family member. Slabtown is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in our area. History, and charm on tree-lined streets and just a short walk to West Grand Traverse Bay beaches, downtown shopping and restaurants. This casually stylish 3 bedroom home provides everything you'll need to feel right at home, plus amenities on the property and nearby that will keep you entertained in so many ways. A beautifully landscaped yard (partially fenced and gated area for pups) is a peaceful place to wander and gather. The Space: 3 Bedrooms are all upstairs. 2 bedrooms have queen beds with memory foam mattresses, the 3rd bedroom has 2 twin beds. A half bathroom upstairs, a full bathroom downstairs. Unique features include: EV Charger (Tesla but with appropriate adapters, can charge other EV vehicles: Extra fees may apply for use), Portable/rolling Air Conditioner for 2nd Floor living space, first floor open floor plan, partially gated yard for dogs, Chiminea/outdoor fireplace for outdoor fires and cooking, outdoor Cinema-like, plush recliner chairs and outdoor movie screen for watching Netflix/Amazon Prime movies/shows on patio at night, perennial gardens, outdoor patio festival lighting and 6 outdoor electrical plugs for working outdoors, patio table and chairs, and bikes. The Neighborhood: 1 1/2 blocks to West Bay Beach and Tart Trail, 3 blocks to Hickory Hills/Hickory Meadows natural area, 4-5 blocks to The Village at Grand Traverse Commons and Natural Area, 2 blocks to Dairy Lodge (ice cream!), short walk to downtown Traverse City--7-9 blocks). Very quiet neighborhood and central location to everything!!! This home requires a 30 day minimum rental- but is a fantastic option for guests looking to experience the best that Traverse City has to offer- live like a local in the heart of it all!
